Before starting, preheat the oven to broil.Wash and dry all produce. Peel, then cut onion into 1/4-inch pieces.Heat a large non-stick pan over medium heat. When hot, add 2 tbsp butter, then onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly softened, 4-5 min. Add 2 tsp sugar, then season with salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until dark golden-brown, 4-6 min. Remove the pan from heat, then transfer onions to a small bowl.
Slice baguette crosswise into 1/2-inch slices.Add baguette slices to an unlined baking sheet. Drizzle with 1 1/2 tbsp oil. Season with salt and pepper, then toss to coat. Broil baguette slices in the middle of the oven until golden-brown and crisp, 3-5 min. (TIP: Keep an eye on them so they don't burn!)
Thinly slice chives.Combine caramelized onions, mayo, yogurt, cream cheese, half the chives, 1 1/2 tsp Cream Sauce Spice Blend, 1/8 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper in a medium serving bowl (TIP: Use remaining Cream Sauce Spice Blend in another recipe.)
Sprinkle crispy shallots and remaining chives over caramelized onion dip.Serve crostini on the side for dipping. (TIP: This dip tastes even better when it's had time to sit and let the flavours meld. Make dip ahead and toast crostini before serving!)
