Zucchini Recipe FAQs

What is zucchini?

Zucchini is a fruit, harvested before it’s fully mature. It has a green skin and an average length of around 20-30cm. It is also made up of around 95% water, making it a deliciously light option in meals.

How to cook zucchini?

Zucchini can be baked, sauteed, grilled and air fried. Baking is perhaps the most common zucchini cooking method, as it's easy to prepare and set up, and can be carried out in large batches. To bake zucchini, simply preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan assisted) and lay sliced zucchini on a baking tray. Drizzle with oil and seasoning, and cook for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown, for the perfect cooked zucchini.

Is Zucchini a fruit?

Yes. Zucchini is a fruit from the Cucurbitaceae family. Also known as a courgette in places like the UK, zucchini is a fruit which originates from Central and South America. The name zucchini comes from the Italian word zucchino, meaning a small squash.

Can you eat zucchini raw?

Yes, zucchini can be eaten raw and is particularly tasty in salads and dips.

How to make zucchini noodles?

Zucchini noodles can be made using a spiralizer or a julienne peeler. All you have to do is cut your zucchini into your desired size, length and width with the tool of your choice and serve them up. You can cook the noodles, but due to their soft, watery texture you run the risk of them getting mushy rather than crisp, so your best bet is to eat them raw.

Can you freeze zucchini?

Yes you can freeze zucchini. Rather than putting it in the freezer cold, our expert recipe developers recommend that you cut it into slices and blanche it first in order to prolong its lasting time.

Eat better. Every day.
